OK, Heres the deal. I have a modem called Hayes Accura PCI V.92 FAXMODEM Dualmode (PN: 08-15357-72). I have been trying to configure it for a long time and my RED HAT LINUX 7.2 does not even recognise that it is even connected. OK, don't say that i should go to linuxmodems.org, i went there and i looked for my modem and it is not listed. It might not be a Linmodem or it might not even have been tested in linux. But, I bought the Modem for £70, only four months ago. So please, please, PLEASE!!!!. can someone help. i really need to get online in my linux, NOT MY WINDOW$. AND i don't want to buy a new modem.

OR if anyone out there wants to buy my modem for around £60 then please contact me. :)

hi
somebody just helped me about my modem. from my experience in the last three days that first you have to physically see what kind of chip u have. then go to www.linmodems.org (http://www.linmodems.org) and find out if thats hcf or hsf.
hcf = controllarless
hsf = soft winmodem

over there they have some utilities that finds out for u if it is hcf or hsf. then u can download some generic drivers and pray that it works for u.

Could you please give me more detail on how to find that out. afterall it is a big website. I think my modem is has a Lucent chipset. I know this becuase when i install windows and before i have installed the modem driver it is recognised as Lucent modem. and also i think i saw it in the linmodem.org site. I have now, as i am typing this, have downloaded this driver which might work called ltmodem-kv_2.4.9_21-6.00b15-1.i686. Thanks any way. please keep replying your ideas can help me alot. :)

Can you get the source (tar.gz) for the Lucent drivers and compile it yourself. I believe they include a app for testing your modem to see if the drivers will work with your modem.
