whats up with my mouse?

im using an MS intellimouse explorer (optical)...plugged into the ps/2 port via a usb/ps2 adapter. when i startx the moust pointer is in the upper left corner of the screen...and wont leave that spot....how can i fix this?

Maybe try telling it its a different mouse type? Mine never detects as a MS mouse, although it is. Just a suggestion.

I think it is a config problem because I had the same problem. It configures it wrongly at least in most of the ones I have been in. Just manually edit your config file and change the mouse to IMPS2. I think that should do it.
Oops I forgot the / in the first post. IT should be ExplorerPS/2. But I think IMPS/2 should work for that mouse regardless.
