Hi I'm new to linux, but I couldn't seem to get any sound to work with my system. Does linux support digital speakers?

Open a terminal window. At the command prompt type: esd
this should start your esound driver if it has been installed and your sound card is compatible.
What kind of sound card do you have? What version of Linux are you running? Quite a few sound cards are recognized at boot these days. Check the <a href="http://www.google.com/linux?hl=en&q=Hardware+compatibility+listing">compaitbility listing</a> [google.com/linux search yields many lists] to see of it is in there any where.
