How do you change the login prompt so when someone wants to telnet into my machine they only see login and not my Linux version and kernel build?

Thanks!

IIRC, issue and motd in /etc/ have that info, as well as some text files for ftp (I can't remember those names) have all that info right in 'em. I know it's vague, hope it helps.

I edited /etc/motd and changed what it said.

Read carefully the comments in /etc/rc.d/rc.local. Issue is generated anew, at every boot, but it can be changed in there to anything you like.
