I was looking on ebay for LCD screens and found a bunch ripped out of laptops. I have never actually seen one, but I am pretty sure the output isn't a std 15pin vga. Is there an easy way to convert it or rewire it? I was thinking it would be cool to get some cheap *** video cards and a few of these (I saw 2 10.4" for $10) and build some picture frames around them and have art/pics on them. Maybe hang em on my wall.

LCD's require a digital input. I don't know of any converters. You can get old ISA LCD controllers for fairly cheap, if you can find them. It's best if you get LCD and controller bundled together, so you know they work together. I had a link to where they sold such products, but it's been 6 months or so.

I saw your post in the other thread. One thing that I would recomend is to use XF86 4.0 or higher. You should be able to use your main screen with keyboard, mouse, and monitor(you'll probably want the video out on this also). Then define a second screen for LCD, and trackball or whatever you end up using.

I wish I could be more specific on building this, but all I can provide is suggestions.

After looking around for a while I think what I am going to use for the small control display is a 6" Sharp TFT LCD. I can get one for about $50 and they have a TV out-so I can pick up a card w/ tv out and be good. I found someone who did this in their car w/ linux and this screen and they are running XMMS on it, so I guess it will work...
