need help with savage ix in solo 5300

i have tried loading x window 9 times with various dist, red hat, mandrake, checked bbs, downloaded drivers, now i am stuck in text mode and no clue how to upload drivers and configure x window, no clue what to do with drivers download on win98
to a floppy and mandrake 7.2 is loaded i get a login window in text and help i am stuck , please help me i am a moron :mad: :confused: :confused: :confused: :eek: :rolleyes: :(

Try searching for your laptop (solo 5300 is a laptop, isn't it?) here (http://www.linux-laptop.net/), or for one that has the same video chip. You may find procedures on how to configure X.
