I'm running slack 7.1 with kde2. I just tried installing the nvidia 0-95 drivers from the .tar.gz files from the nvidia website. Now it seems everything will just freeze up all of a sudden. Don't know if it was something with the mesa items or not. Anyone else had this problem? How did you get the nvidia drivers working in slack 7.1?? Thanks.

When exactly does it freeze up? Any error messages?

It usually freezes within 10 minutes or so. I'm usually online at the time, but I don't think that has anything to do with it. If I go back and comment out the load glx and change the nvidia back to nv it works fine so it's something along those lines. I think it's probably with the files I renamed but I thought was correct since it said on the Nvidia site that those files could cause problems.

I have seen this before in Mandrake when usins a non-BX chipset. Usually, disabling AGP in the XF86Config file takes care of that. It lowers 3D gaming performance, but it stops lock ups.

Hmm, I will have to try that. I do have a via chipset so that could be it. I 'll post back after trying some things out. I also found another website that goes into pretty good detail on getting opengl working in Slackware. I'll post that if it works too. Thanks again.
