i'm wondering if anyone's run into problems using the Abit BP6 and dual celeron 1's in it?

i'm thinking of getting that instead of my single athlon that i have right now.

i have a bp6+dual celeron 1, and also an athlon system, depending on what your using the comp for pick which one. but in general id think your taking a step down if your going back to a celeron 1. smp is cool if you really do alot of compiling or development but most ppl only need a uniproc system. and no i havent had any problems with the bp6

Hmm..that's a major downgrade man. First of all, BX SMP is not very advanced. Dual celeron 600 won't even compare to a 1Ghz Athlon.

If you're looking for good SMP support, get something with a ServerWorks chipset. The motherboards may be expensive, but you can use the flipchip PIII's. Celeron is not the way to go for anything at this point, especially not linux. Because linux uses the FPU extensively, celeron just doesn't have the necessary power to perform.

a good PIII dual flipchip motherboard is the Supermicro 370DLE (about $300).
