i heard getting USB to work in linux is hard as hell.....

i want to use my USB CD-RW Drive(Hp cd-writer 8200e)....
what should i do?

There's an experimental kernel driver for the HP8200 USB series. As in, very experimental. I know it's in the 2.4.17 kernels and newer... but I'm fairly sure it was introduced in the early test kernel.. not 100% certain though. I think it's the hpusbscsi module along with the usb-storage module. I do believe they're included in the default mandrake 8.1 install, however, there might be bugfixes for that driver in the newer kernel releases (2.4.18 being the latest stable 2.4 release... Mandrake 8.1 ships with 2.4.8)

The drive is not listed on the Mandrake hardware compatability list. If you get it working using those modules, I'd send them a quick message telling them that it works.
