Looks like there finally may be a new soundcard to compete with the SBlive, of course linux support will be non-exsistent at first and maybe never but if you dig new shi*

The new Turtle Beach Santa Cruz looks pretty interesting too. Gotta love capitalism, you knew the hardware manufacturers were not gonna let Creative have the sound card market all to themselves for TOO long. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/wink.gif

The turtle beach card is supposed to be great. My question is how will the support for the phillips card be relative to creative's live cards? Too bad Aureal when bankrupt.

I know. I thought that the reason why they were bought out was because they went bankrupt (Creative's army of lawyers). I could be wrong.

Hi:

I wouldn't be surprised if Linux support from Phillips comes faster than usual; they are a huge presence in Europe, as is Linux. Will be talking to a good friend of mine tonight; he is a hardware designer for Phillips. OTOH, he's still trying to get biometric authentication devices for the 4 workstations in his office to no avail--and Phillips manufactures them.

Even thought Creative bought Aureal, I doubt we will see anything related to Vortex stuff out.

Daedra,

Did you try the Aureal Reference 2048 drivers? I have a bunch of Turtle Beach Montego II soundcards (same Vortex2 chipset as the MX300) running under Win98 and Win2K and they work great.

All of Diamond's and Turtle Beach's drivers pretty much suck.
