Wouldn't it be great if you could get a Palm Pilot to get a shell session via the serial cable? It's possible right? You can use a serial terminal to log into Linux? I don't see why someone couldn't make a terminal program on the Palm OS.

The reason why I want something like this is because I setup multiple servers at different locations. I don't always have a monitor and keyboard handy. I have my Palm Pilot though... All I would need it for is to say reboot the system or something? Change some configs. Easy stuff.

Maybe something like this exists and I haven't found it? Searched freshmeat and couldn't find it.

what you need is one of the PDAs from www.agendacomputing.com (http://www.agendacomputing.com)

these things are really cool! They have a bash shell are true multitasking and have a terminal app. it comes with a RS232 cable so you could do exactly what you are wanting to do!

They weren't released last time I checked but by now they might be. Not to mention they are pretty cheap, $149 for 8mb of builtin RAM and 2mb of Flash, $199 for 8mb and 4mb of flash and $249 for 8mb/8mb Not to mention they are based on a RISC 66mhz chip..
