I'm having a really hard time finding a linux driver for the Diamond Monster M80. Can anyone suggest where to find one? Any help is appreciated.

Anything at Diamond? Soundcard right?

What distro are you using? Have you tried the sound configuration utilities that are included with distros.

You can try searching at freshmeat.net, sourceforge.net and www.google.com/linux (http://www.google.com/linux) for the Monster.

based on the aureal chipset
aureal.sourceforge.net
I think it is a vortex 1 therefore au8820 is the option you want when you run make

not totally sure though, so do some research

There's also mention of aureal/vortex in the Diamond Monster MX300 NHF here (http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/audio/aureal.html).

Get the drivers on aureal.sourceforge.net

And goto http://tectonix.co.uk/petition and sign the petition. We can get the driver source from Creative (who don't have any use for it) so better drivers can be built and we're not forced to buy their cards to have sound in Linux.

I did some reading up and found out the diamond sound m80 isn't based on the any of the aureal vortex chipsets, and therefore the sourceforge driver doesn't work. I guess this card is offlimits for linux.
