Here's on I've been working on for a while. The only thing I've found leading me in any direction is at <a href="http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/hardware/intellimouseexplorer.html">http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/hardware/intellimouseexplorer.html</a>. Unfortunately. This didn't fix my problem even though it SPECIFICALLY deals with it. I have a USB Intellimouse Explorer. I am running KDE using the 2.4 kernel with Suse 7.1 installed. I have tried editting the /etc/X11/XF86Config file as explained in the link, but when I do and I restart xwindows I can only move my mouse up or right. If I move it down or left it returns my cursor to the very bottom left hand corner of my monitor. I also ran SaX under KDE and told it I had an Intellimouse Explorer USB. When I do that it changed my config to something slightly different than the link from earlier, but it still didn't work. This time I couldn't get any activity out of my mouse at all. Any ideas?

Check to see if you have GPM (general purpose mouse for using in console) running as it is known to interfere with X mouse behaviour.

Check for your mouse and configuration options here (http://www.xfree86.org/current/mouse.html).

Searching the forums for 'erratic' will find you more posts on the topic.

It seems all the places I found here were beating around the bush. I needed an NHF in order to understand it.... I've lived in a microsoft world for so long that this is such a struggle, but I'm learning a real operating system now ;)..... The final step to finding the answer I found at http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/en/html/lmarks_imwheel_setup.html
