Here's on I've been working on for a while. The only thing I've found leading me in any direction is at http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/hardware/intellimouseexplorer.html. Unfortunately. This didn't fix my problem even though it SPECIFICALLY deals with it. I have a USB Intellimouse Explorer. I am running KDE using the 2.4 kernel with Suse 7.1 installed. I have tried editting the /etc/X11/XF86Config file as explained in the link, but when I do and I restart xwindows I can only move my mouse up or right. If I move it down or left it returns my cursor to the very bottom left hand corner of my monitor. I also ran SaX under KDE and told it I had an Intellimouse Explorer USB. When I do that it changed my config to something slightly different than the link from earlier, but it still didn't work. This time I couldn't get any activity out of my mouse at all. Any ideas?
