Why doesnt my Modem work???

My diamon modem is not being recoqnised by my mandrake 7.1 linux distro. does any one know why...please help...its an internal modem..a SupraExpress 56.

Lots and lots and lots of post here on 'My modem doesn't work'. Try some of the suggestions posted in them.

First of all, is the SupraExpress a Winmodem?

Get the serial number of the modem and go here, this is where you can see if your modem is a Winmodem or not. Http://www.idir.net/~gromitkc/20010302a.html

If it's a ISA modem, it should work in linux. If it's PCI then you may want to go ahead and start looking for an external modem.
