Hey there all ...
just got my new box all up and running but I think it may be a bit too hot, I'm just looking for some comparison from anybody out there who might have a similar setup...

AMD Tbird 1.2 Ghz
ABIT KT7A RAID (raid disabled for now)
256 MB cas2 micron ram
30 GB Maxtor HD
Acer 10x4x32 CDRW
ATI rage pro 64 MB video
Cooling: Volcano V CPU cooler + 2 80mm case fans (one front blowing in & one rear blowing out)

At Idle its running about 44 C
after 5 burn-in tests using Sisoft it gets as hot as 51-52 C

Oh and One more thing... does anybody know of a good software package for monitoring hardware temps etc in linux ???

Thanks

AMD's are notorius for running hot and varying on stable operating temps. With that said, it is within the specs for your processor but more importantly...if its running stable after burn in then that temp is fine. Only thing you should try if you're not already using it is some thermal compound (Artic Silver seems to be the best for me). I have an Abit KT7Raid with a Duron 700Mhz overclocked to 950Mhz stable using a FongKai case with the same fan setup as you and a GlobalWin 32 fan. When I finally put some Artic Silver on it I dropped 5C right off the bat. I now idle at 30C and load at around 42C. Just be sure to put a THINlayer on the chipset (I used a straight razor blade) and be careful putting that fan back on! LOL In general though, TBirds do tend to run hot and you're well within the specs...so as long as its stable for you, go with it. Good luck!
