My computer's old sound card, which is built onto the mother board, died and i am trying to override it with a new one that i put in. It worked out fine, for the most part in windows, but when i tried to install Linux it detected my old card and i can't figure out how to change it. There is no sound. By the way if you need to know this: KDE, WinLinux 2000

what do u mean it detected it? ... as a side note, did you try disabling the Onboard sound in the BIOS?

I tried to go into the CMOS, but i couldn't find the on board sound. I tried to disable it a while back after installed it.
