Simple distro question yet again, I think this is the third time I have asked this but now I have a PII300, rather than aP133. So what is a good idea? I am sick of RH. I really want to get my hands dirty, I am quite confident in setting up hardware, and all else. Just need to know which distro is recommended. I have heard good things about Debian and Slack, but can't decide. I don't mean to start a war (well I do really) but which is most recommended. I also now have a cable modem, so an internet NLS install, or whatever it is called would be helpfull. Cheers

We heard you already.
Ratings that important to you? Only puts you in a higher tax bracket.

Debian is probably a good try. And if you want to do it without fiddling quite as much, go for one of them new fangled Progeny/Libranet efforts.
Oh, and I'll rate you while I'm here.

Why don't you try both and see what each has to offer you? Its Depending on the size of your hard drive you can even install both at once and switch between them.
Really, the only way to see if you like a distro is to try it.
But, If I was forced to make a reccomendation, I would say Debian.
