Hi, I had the same problem in 7.2. I fixed mine by running sndconfig in a terminal. I can't remember the options as they are presented but I just hit enter on all defaults and voila.....sound! Also, there is a warning that it may not work in a Xwindow session but I had no problem at all running from kde.
Best of luck

OK...I've read sickboys flame of the "newbian." And I challenge him with this. Where in TFM does it say how to install a SB AWE 64 ISA sound card? Oh yeah, another problem, I got Mandrake 7.0 free. Where do I GET a FM?

Anyway, I've tried to find something specific on what to try. I read a post about turning soundon from the console, but there is no soundon - anywhere (even did a whereis soundon.) Tried using Drakeconfig - sound card is not even showing up!!!!!!!!!

Final note, I am a lamer MCSE-about-to-be. I am open-minded, but I dont want to KILL myself over this. I realize I have a lot to learn about Linux, but based on posts like Sickboy's, I'm not so sure how much I want to!!!!
