What is the best dual process motherboard, and processor to buy for a small - medium sized web/mysql server It is for my home, I have started a business and I am running it from home, and have no exp yet with dual processor combinations? I will be running RedHat 7.0. I have the machine up and running now, but its an older AMD K6-3 450 with a promise 66 raid controller...

Intel makes excellent dual mobos but they are kind of expensive. The ones I use at my house are from SuperMicro. My Linux box is a dual Xeon that runs 24/7 cracking RC5 and is the gateway to the internet for my mini network and has not let me down for over a year now. I do a lot of other stuff with it but those two things are what it does all the time.

Did I do that?

I have bought and built 3 dual systems so far. It is my expierence that It really doesn't matter what motherboard you go with, all of them seem to be very good quality ( no cheap transistors or resistors and stuff). They are all set up for server enviroments. You just need to be sure that your OS has drivers for the components on the motherboard.

The only real problem I have had in this area is the built in USB ports on the last mother board I sent out the door, a SoYo I believe, and the problem was with Win2000 not having drivers for it.

IMHO, just get a dual board, and have fun with it, any dual board should suit your needs, or at least most of them.

[X] YES! I'm a brain-damaged lemur on crack, and I'd like to order your software package for $459.95!
