ASCI was temporarly replaced by Pvt Dumbass again and during an XP install managed to lose Lilo. Is there any way to reinstall Lilo w/o reinstalling Linux? Or making a bootdisk from outside Linux?

You will also need a bootable disk, preferrably dos 6.22, with no autoexec.bat or config.sys on it. Boot with the CD or minidistro, and you will be able to mount your partition and copy the kernel image to the floppy (dont forget to use 8.3 naming). You then get loadlin.exe (Slack puts a copy in /root on install) and put it on the same floppy. You now have a bootable dos floppy with no drivers, etc. that has a copy of loadlin and your kernel on it. Boot with that floppy, run loadlin, specify your kernel image, your / partition, and you are in. Reconfigure lilo, run lilo, go have a beer. killerasp 06-20-2001, 10:30 PM What distro are you using?
