total newbie needs a few anwsers

Hey i just picked this up and some one told me to get Linux. Well i am not really sure about all the abrevations and what they mean. Does any one know a site or something like that, that can tell me what they mean? Plz. Thanks

Do you mean standard unix/linux commands? Like "cd ls mkdir"?

You mean stuff like:
GNU - GNU is Not Unix
PHP - PHP Hypertext Preproccessor (used to mean Personal Home Page, but was changed to fit in with GNU naming criteria.)
GLIBC - GNU Libraries for C
...

Most of its fairly meaningless.

Not sure how many distro include wtf but I know Slack (http://www.slackware.com) does! It's in the BSD games collection.

Usage:

wtf term
