Hrm - not quite sure where to go from here. After over a year, I'm ready
to be able to fax again, as well as dial-up when the DSL is down. I found
(what looks to be) a great modem online for only about $30 dollars or so.
The MultiTech Systems MT5634ZPX ISA internal hardware modem ( http://www.multitech.com/PRODUCTS/MultiModemZPX/ ). I have it installed
with the default PnP setup (IRQ3,COM1). After compiling and installing the
Lucent Modem driver version 5.78e, I noticed that the modem was actually
showing up in the dmesg (see below) tho it doesn't show up in cat /proc/pci
or cat /proc/ioports. wvdial in yast picks up the modem fine (see below),
but when it tries to dial out, I get the 'NO DIALTONE--> No dial tone.
Trying again in 5 seconds.". Bah. I'm getting ready to dig out the
modem's manual and see if I can't start hitting it manually with some modem
commands, but I was just hoping that I might find someone who's
successfully gotten this modem running already. Please let me know if I
need to give anymore info about the computer/hardware at all...

Anyone see anything below that's a tad bit off kilter???

Any direction or help is VERY appreciated!

TIA
geo
