Running X is more dependent on video drivers than the version of the kernel you have. Your best bet would be to go to www.xfree86.org (http://www.xfree86.org) and download version 3.3.1 or 3.3.2. This supports the majority of video cards and alot more AGP. That way you eliminate future incompatibility problems.

I have the Banshee/Voodoo3 drivers. The drivers don't use the 3D but they are working
on it. The drivers work great. If you want them let me know. I email them to you or send them on floppy.
