i cannot make the screen any bigger than a small box for vcd's and it doesnt load dvd's at all

can anyone assist me and telling me where i may be going wrong?

I was told this was a better player for DVD, http://www.linuxvideo.org/ try it and see if you get the same issues.
Hope this helps. :D

Is it possible you do not have the right codec? I have the same problem when atempting to play a movie when the div-X codec was needed. I loaded it and it wored fine. (maby it not the same thing).
Hope this helps. :D
Here's a link to div-X http://xmps.sourceforge.net/download.php3

it was looking for libXv.so.1

and i searched rpmfind.net for it and found an xlibs rpm for x4.03

there were some conflict which were ignored and was installed fine, which included the above file.

i retried to install the xine rpm with no problems but still ended up with the small screen size, although i could change the aspect ratio.

i shall investigate linuxvideo, but i am not confident enough to mess with the kernel etc. in case i mess it up
