I am a complete newby to linux so i thought i would try Winlinux first to see if i liked it, and i do. The problem i am having is getting on the internet in Winlinux. I have a Realtek network card and am on NTL broadband. I haven`t got a clue what to do or where to start, i dont know what IP i have to put in or how to get linux to recognise my network card. I also need to know what setting i need to put in and where to put them in. I would really appreciate someone writing me a little tutorial on how to set up linux so i can get onto the internet.

Many thanks Archie

Does Winlinux have any documentation on their site to help with configuring the network?

What desktop does it use... Gnome, KDE etc.?

Have you disabled PnP OS in the bios?

Does

lsmod

show the Realtek module as being loaded?

Also try

ifconfig -a

and look for eth0 and lo.

About the little tutorial. If you look around at some of the previous posts or search the forums, you will find loads of threads on the same topic that explain how to setup/configure a network connection.

Also web searches will find probably thousands of tutorials.
