I am running slack with XFree86-4.0.2 for starteers.. I have an Explorer Mouse (set up with PS/2 not USB), never had this problem before, but the past couple days, I have been getting random lock ups with it. I'll be in the middle of doing something and ... BAAM - nothing no movement no clickies.. nada , zip , zero , zilch.. the only way I can recover from it is to actually hit the power button on my pc.. Not turn it off, (it has a delay, where you have to hold it in for about 5 seconds) just push it in once, then it works again - very strange.. Any idears...

Are you overheating? Anything overclocked? All your fans turning, etc? Or have you been in Windows again?

damn you caught me.. I went into windows to show a friend something lame - other than that - fans are kicking nice and loud - not overclocked - like I said just started happening --hmmm.. maybe the fan on the CPU is going - shouldn't the BIOS give me some real annoying beep if it was overheating -

Time to get some more fans -

Well, I went out and picked up a couple fans, man that was a ***** getting it off the processor - (Athlon Slot A) those little clips are a pain in the arse.. I am gonna run it no stop (like I always do) and see if it helps..

thanks ph34r

It locked again - it seems to happen more when using Mozilla 0.9 - maybe thats screwing me up - oh well, at least my computer is cooler now, time to overclock :)
