The crap machine I got a few weeks ago came with a KDS Radius S-3F, but I'm having to return everything because, well, it's a crap machine. The picture is OK, a bit flickery and I can't get Red Hat centered. I want to get an LCD with whatever I replace this thing with, but I want one that will last. I'm looking in the sub-$1000 price range. I might be able to go just a bit over that if I can cut back on a few things elsewhere. the Sony SDM-N50PS looks pretty cool, but what's the picture like? All the online reviews seem pretty wishy-washy, like no one can actually say "this is the best" anymore. Most seem to favor the RAD-5, but it only looks so-so at Office Despot. How about the Silicon Graphics F180? Digital would be a plus, as is the ability to hang it on the wall without one of those arms. What graphics card would be best to go with it? Any help you guys can offer would be appreciated.

Graphics cards are a touchy area, so I'll just say that I'm crazy about my Samsung 15" LCD monitor. It's detachable from it's weighted base, but I think you'd have to use one of Samsung's alternate mountings to make use of that feature. It does have the cable coming out in a downward direction, so it could fit flush on a wall without a problem. I think you can find a 17" for the price range you mentioned.

Yeah, some of the 17" and even 18.1" have really dropped in price. The only bad thing about them is how hard it is to find wallpapers I like in 1280x1024! The main reason I'm having such a hard time deciding is that my town is sorry and no place has a good selection for me to look at. The only place in town that even sells them only has 2, the RAD-5 and a small View Sonic with a very dim picture. Even then, they're all at non-native resolution so they look terrible. So then, we have one point for the Samsung! Anybody else got a suggestion?
