upgrading SCSI card on live server

I currently use a rh 5.2 system with a old 1520, I just purchased a 1542 and with to install it with a 9 gig drive, what steps are involved?

Look at section 3.4 of the scsi howto for
details on the aha1542

You will need to recompile the kernel and maybe add an append line to /etc/lilo.conf

It hardly seems worth the effort to change from one ISA scsi card to another, if you don't mind me saying.

Well here's the issue, this oold 1520 card, it doesn't handle drives over 2 gig. the 1542 does, I have an external 9 gig I want to attach...
