I have RH 7.1 installed and I'm using blackbox
But when I select a style the background picture won't display. I do a Ctrl+Alt+F1 and I see an error that says "~/.blackbox/backgrounds/911.jpg) unknown or unsupported file type."
On another install of RH I have everything works fine. Did I forget to install something? Please help

verify that the 911.jpg file do exist.
also check the file permission on it

it does exsit. I even renamed it and converted it to a png file and the same error came up. the permissions on it are
everyone, owner and nobady. I changed them to 777 and the error still happened.
Perhaps you're missing libjpeg or the app (such as bsetbg or xv) is having trouble with the specific filetype for similar reasons, e.g. missing libs. I don't think it's a problem necessarily of the file "not being found" so to speak.

Try using The Gimp to convert the picture to many other types like XPM, PNG, GIF, foo and see if THAT works.

I did that already.
I also have another HD with RH7.1 (on same computer) with blackbox and it works fine. I even used the same blackbox tarball on both drives.

well, if all you did was compile from source on both machines I'll have to agree with what bdl said.
Although if you can see OTHER backgrounds then somthing might be wrong with .jpg file (corrupted?)
Sorry, I'm outta fresh ideas for now. :confused:
