10baseT? i think that's it. i don't have a handy reference.

anywy, my dad's getting a dsl modem, i just wanna make sure he's alright with any old ethernet nic, or if the connection speeds on dsl are enough to warrant a faster one.

nope, the best dsl will be 1.5mbps, so 10BT, the old one is very much fast enough, no problem

the only home LAN that needs 100/10, ie Fast Ethernet is if you have your own file server, and/or want to move files from one internal boxen to another, fast

that's what i figured, since most ethernet networks and such really haven't changed in 6 years, i can still use old cards (<10 bucks versus 30 for new ones).

my dsl gateway/router uses 2 3com 3c509b ISA nic's

works fine, lasts a long time :)
