running modem in parallel

i was wondering if i can run two modem at the same time to increase the modem speed.
ex. 56k to 157k

would it be able to burn up other people modem.

the reason why i asking, some one told that there are running two modem at the same time and burn up other modems.

is it possible :confused:

I believe there are options in the kernel for 'multi-link' (I think that's correct - or close).

Try searching Google and you should find something to help.
