This is a very complex situation. I have an old PII450 system that I got for around $20 and a 4 GB SCSI HD and 2 4 GB IDE drives. I have a Tekram DC315 SCSI controller handling the single SCSI drive, and the onboard IDE handling the other two drives and the CDROM. My question is this - Redhat 7.3 (or any other linux flavor for that matter) doesn't seem to support this SCSI controller. I want to create a RAID 0 array w/ the 2 IDE drives and the one SCSI drive, but I must use the provided boot disk from tekram that only supports older builds of the various linux flavors (rehat 7.0 for instance). How can I use this 7.0 boot disk (that recognizes the SCSI controller/drive) to install redhat 7.3? If I try and use this boot disk, it asks for the "installation media" (the 7.0 CDROM) and if I put the 7.3 disk in the drive it doesn't "recognizwe" it (it keeps asking for the media). Is something like this possible or should I just give up and install redhat on the two IDE drives and add the SCSI drive after the fact? I would love to try and get this to work. Any help/insight would be appreciated.

Are you sure RAID 0 will work with this hardware setup and not without a proper IDE/SCSI Raid Controller?
Could you install Redhat 7.0 first with the Tekram bootdisk and then do a upgrade to 7.3?
Not sure if that will work, but may be worth a try.

I am pretty sure so long as it can detect the drives you can do software RAID 0, but I have yet to try (which is the whole point of this exercise :) ). My only concern with the upgrade is that once you install 7.0 and modify the kernel to add the module for this controller, if you upgrade to 7.3 will this module stay or will it have to be manually addded again? I will fool with it some more today, but I think I am taking mom out to dinner. Anyways, any help on this is greatly appreciated. If you are interested in seeing what must be done for this driver to work there is a readme at :
ftp://ftp.tekram.com/SCSI/3X5/Linux/Redhat/Redhat62/readme.txt
It explains the whole procedure.

If the instructions say it will work, then I believe it.
Sorry as I wouldn't be able to tell you if upgrading to 7.3 after will mess up the configuration or not.
Wouldn't hurt to try and it would be a good learning experience even if the 7.3 upgrade didn't work.
