I was trying to install ethernet onto my Linux box (that I obviously still don't know how to run since I messed something up) and while trying to configure PPP in Gnome, the box froze. I couldn't get out or get anything to respond so I rebooted- I'm used to windows and I guess Linux doesn't like being rebooted! Bad thing is I was logged in as root at the time. I tried to reboot and I get down to "Bringing up interface ppp0:" and nothing, just sits there. Help!

Also, so I don't screw up again, does anyone know of a newbie tutorial on setting up a dial-up connection for Linux with a LAN?
