Where can I download an iso for Slack current? I wanna give it a try. Is anyone else using it? How does it work?

Slack-current is just like any other distro, it just happens to be the 'pre-release' version of Slackware. It's meant to be a 'beta' version of the distro so people can try it out, report any bugs and generally be helpful in it's development. Having said that, most anyone who's into slack will be running -current anyway. Here (ftp://128.173.184.249/Linux/ISO/slackware-current-weekly/) is the FTP link for the -current ISO. Please note this is NOT an official ISO image and NOT supported or endorsed by the Slackware team. You can also save yourself some time by not downloading the ISO, but by downloading just the essentials, namely slakware, .eltorito, and any kernel images you want from kernels. Create your own bootable ISO, it'll save you about a 250MB or so download.

Just FYI Slack is right at the pre-release stage, Pat 'froze' -current back a couple of days ago. Slackware 8.0 should be out anytime now....

Nope, it's 8.0. Check the Slack forum and -current files....

8.0? Gasp
Took me by surprise. Well when it finally goes gold, I'll go buy it. Probably because it's going to contain a bunch of new stuff radically different from 7.1 but that's my guess.
Keep on Slackin' :)
 Slackware
