Although this question is not appropriate, but any one could please tell that on how many platfroms, Windows NT can run? Is there any discussion board for Windows NT like this is for Linux?

What exactly do you mean?

How many different PC brands NT will run on, or the specific types of computers?

Intel and compatible cpu's are the only platform I know of that NT will run on.

The Apple PowerPC chips, Alpha's, Sun Sparcs, and other types of computers, NT won't run on, unless MS has ported it and I never knew.

I want the names of some of the Intel compatible machines if you could please tell. According to my little knowledge, AMD is Intel compatible. Is this right.

Please comment!

My NT wkstation 4 cd has a directory for i386, mips, ppc, and alpha.

Good luck finding applications to run on those, although I think there is a version of office and the visual studio stuff for the alpha.

I'd find it hard to believe if what you're looking for is not on www.microsoft.com (http://www.microsoft.com)...

The support of Microsoft is not good enough. Therefore there's no use in asking Microsoft about this.

I know that NT will also run on RISC based machines to.

I think Microsoft used to support Power-PC in the NT 3.51 days. They don't support it anymo' tho' and in order to install it on a RISC computer you need some extra stuff. I think it's OSLOADER or something like that.

I feel dirty now...

Of course, like I said... good luck finding apps to run on those non-x86 cpus...

Who would want to use some weird/expensive piece of hardware and not want the weird/expensive OS (*nix, *bsd, etc.) that was designed to run on it? And then put NT on it instead?

/me thinks the quality of the crack in Redmond has taken a turn downhill...
