Since the other day when I screwed up my X windows system and did a reinstall of 7.0, things have been real slow. So I burned 22.00 and bought Cheapbytes 7.1 version (going to be on my door step today). My question is should I reformat the drives since I now have
hda1 hda2 (hda5 hda6 hda7 hda9) for some reason that looks bad. And do a full install? Since I will be going from kernel 2.2 to 2.4 and there is nothing worth keeping on the old version I think it would be the best way.

Second question: How do I remove all the partions (Obviously the RH7.0 reinstall did not do that well it just added other partitions).

Thanks

I think theres an option in fdisk to remove a partition (it'll just turn into a big clump of unused space) then just repartition them into a big ext2.

1. I would personally do a full install after backing up my personal files. That's just me however - I like keeping things in their spot - not installing over other versions.

2. I'm from the Windows group of people (only recently started experimenting with Linux) and I would *HIGHLY* recommend buying Partition Magic. It is a great program and is very easy to use. Will easily allow you to combine your Linux partitions, create new ones, etc, etc.
