2nd Stage ramdisk failure

help...
i am trying to install mandrake 8.0 and as it gets to init the 2nd stage ramdisk it shows a problem.
what am i doing wrong??
i am a total newbie and this is my first attempt at linux even the install

ok here goes..

PIII 700 Mhz
Bx chipset
256 Ram
3 Hdd (c:NTFS 15GB Win2k pri master)(d:FAT32 3GB formatted and empty pri slave)(e:FAT32 2GB important docs sec master)
Sony 10x4x32 CDRW sec slave
nec 4X cdrom

Some more info pleeze..

ie. what distro, specific error text, hdd type (ata100?)

We can't really figure out what's wrong from that little bit of info you gave.

error loading 2nd stage ramdisk..
