A newbie myself, but that distro worked very well for me too so far. Just wondering why we do not hear about it more often?.. Xsecrets 06-17-2001, 06:02 PM probably don't hear about it more often cause it is marketed more towards the business environment. I personaly have never tried it I tried to install it on one system and it absolutely refused. but I have heard good things about it. CMonster 06-18-2001, 04:11 AM Yeah, Caldera is the distro I started with - back when it was like pulling teeth. The most recent beta is very nice and a strong workstation OS, but behind the times when it comes to the Xserver and a few other things. I like 2.3 and 2.4 eDesktop Saptech 06-18-2001, 04:32 AM I installed Caldera's Openlinux v1.2 on a P-133 over a year ago and it installed great for that system and that version. It was my first linux experience and I still have it installed and using it on that machine. I am thinking about getting the e-desktop and trying it out also. Currently I'm using Mandrake 8.0 on a AMD, 700mhz and it picked up all hardware and installed DSL without much fuss. bdg1983 06-18-2001, 05:52 AM Although Caldera is not know for being bleeding edge as they prefer the proven stable route, I've always found it to be one fine distro. Been running eDesktop 2.4 at work since it's release and have never had a problem. Although the new OpenLinux 3.1 Workstation Beta is a bit buggy, it should be one fine distro when released. justlinux.com
