Hey guys Newbie here, ok I have loaded and unloaded mandrake 7.2 about 3 times, I LOVE it, however I have a generic 17" monitor, So it's dark.....even windows is fark, SO I use the gamma to crake up the brightness.
I have a TNT2 M64 32 meg vid card, installed the drivers that came on the CD. Is their a way to crank up the gamma in linux??? explin how in laimest terms, I am still very new to this :)
Thx in advance

"even windows is fark"

I think you meant "dark" but anyway, my friend there is probably an adjustment inside your monitor (maybe right on the coil) that will correct your problem even in Windows. I suppose this is the part where I warn you that you can be killed by messing around inside a monitor.

If you decide to risk your life and mess up your monitor by tweaking the dash-pots inside be sure to mark where the adjustments are before you start so you can return to the default adjustments if you screw up. And for God sakes use an insulated screwdriver!

Enjoy the X-ray radiation!

I'm not sure, but 'xvidtune' may be able to adjust the brightness of your display. Mandrake with KDE? xvidtune should be somewhere within your program menus or you could open a terminal and run it from there.

Hope it helps.

fark....lol damn, I mean dark.....wow, see what happends when typeing in the dark after a few bloody marys. :) I'll try to find that program. I know there are some tweak proggys out there for windows like coolbits and nvmax. What about for linux?
