Some how I downloaded and installed JDK for Mandrake 6.5, I could happily write Java programs and compile them with "javac" and run them with "java".

Now I have installed Mandrake 8, and I completely forgot how I got the java working 2 years ago.

Can someone tell me how this is done? (Pretend you're talking to a preschooler, I really don't know what I am doing.)

Go here and download the rpm's http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/download-linux.html

I'm pretty sure you don't have to do anything special, it magically all works after doing an rpm -i
