hi,
I'm using a hercules kyro 2 and since the drivers are still in development i used the generic vga drivers. But it refuses to go higher than 320x240. in XF86Config its set to 1280x1024. Anyone know how to fix this ? It says the resolution isnt supported ...

I was also thinking of using my old ati gfx card which working in linux but how would i tell linux to use this card and not the kyro II ?

slackware 7.1
xfree86 4.0.1

cheers,
rich

svga or vga16?

I'd make a copy of your XF86Config and take a couple of trips through Xconfigurator or whatever tool you have for slack. Cut down on the number of colors and shoot for something usable, maybe going as low as 800 x 600 to get something going.

You're going to be pretty limited until Linux understands your video card. But vanilla svga should be able to do 800 x 600 with 16 bit color if I'm not mistaken.

Good luck, glenn

cheers for the reply man,

i've decided to use my ati 4mb... that goes to 1024x768x32. hopefully it will use that and not my kyro II... eeek (they will both be in there at the same time)
