I have a Viewsonic 21PS and an onboard Intel 810 Graphics Card. There are these wierd lines on the menu bar that are blue and white. Also the text is totally warped. I cant even read what I'm typing right now. I know it is not a hardware issue because I dual boot with Linux, ME, and 2000 and in ME and 2000 it is fine. The resolution in Linux is set to 1024x768 and I've tryed every possible colors. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

A possibility that occurs to me is a problem with your monitor settings in your x config. Did you select your monitor from a list? If so, make sure it is exactly your model. If that is not listed, then don't enter a model, but rather horizontal and vertical sync rate values that are within your limits. ;)

Did you tell us your distro? If it is Mandrake 7.2 or 8.0, go to runlevel 3. If you have Drake, and get a boot: prompt, type linux 3 <enter> at that prompt to get it. In Grub, hit e at the boot box, hit e again then type space 3 (that's a blank space followed by 3, then <enter> b to boot to runlevel 3, and you have to log in as root.

Or maybe CTRL+ALT+F2, to return to runlevel 3, type Xconfigurator <enter> (or maybe it's XConfigurator, try both) which puts you into a utility which lets you change selection of video card, Monitor, resolution, and then test it again and again, until you get it right.

I had a HP D1194A, and when I selected that in Drake 7.2, it acted like you describe. I had to try other choices, until it worked correctly. (Test gives you a screen of penguins and a Yes/No box). Ditto on my laptop, some generic thing instead of what it says it is.

Since I didn't see what distro you have, I dont' know if this is a waste of time or not.
