After reading about GNOME3, I'm curious to try it out. However, I gather it's not so easy to install on Debian or Ubuntu, the distros I use.

I know there are only about a gazillion Debian/Ubuntu based distros out there, so I'm hoping that one of the popular/easy ones comes with GNOME3. Any suggestions?

Alternatively, I suppose I could stray from the Debian family for once in my life...just to try out GNOME3...

Any suggestions in that case?

Thanks!

its actually quite simple to install on ubuntu and debian. For ubuntu all you need to do is add the launchpad repo and its all installed through apt. Just google it there are several walkthoughs.

Heres a tutorial i found just by googling "gnome 3 ubuntu" http://news.softpedia.com/news/How-to-Install-GNOME-3-on-Ubuntu-11-04-194085.shtml

i use debian and was able to install it with ease but after about an hour of playing with it i realized it was absolutly horrid and removed it.

if you just want to try it why not just download a Fedora 15 live CD as it comes packaged with Gnome 3

Thanks! I'll give the Fedora 15 live CD a try. After reading more about GNOME3 I'm a bit less enthusiastic about it anyway.
