with RH6.2, i could push a window into another 'virtual' desktop..
ie: grab the window and move it off the current desktop to the right, then click on the deskGuide for the desktop to the right and my window i slid would be there.

RH7.2 isn't doing this. when i move a window off the current desktop, it just gets truncated, like win98 does it.

is there a configuration option somewhere i need to change to allow moving windows between virtual desktops in the DeskGuide?

FVWM can do what you're talking about. What window manager do you use?

i believe it defaulted to Sawfish when i installed it...
on RH6.2 i think it was Enlightenment...

is this something Enlightenment allows but not Sawfish?

I'm away from my Linux box right now, but if I recall, you can configure the workspaces and Sawfish in general somewhere under the Gnome menu (the foot)-->Programs-->Settings.

Yes, Enlightenment  can do this, but I'm pretty sure sawfish can too, just look around at some settings as said above.

OK, got it:

Gnome menu (foot) on taskbar->Programs->Settings->Sawfish window manager->workspaces->Edge Flipping.
Check "Select the next desktop when pointer hits screen edge".
For "Hitting the screen edge selects the next:", choose "workspace".
I also checked "Only flip when interactively moving a window" so it doesn't switch if I accidentally push my mouse aginst a screen edge.
