I find the fonts are really bad in the linux browsers.... possibly linux. I think what I am used to is window's antialiased fonts or at least the smoothing of the fonts. I find it rather hard to read the blocky text at times and was wondering if there is a way to smooth the fonts. I have RedHat 7.2 btw.

Try changing the fonts in the browsers preferences and also install TrueType fonts.
Lots of articles on installing TT fonts either posted here or *cough* Google.
Try this link http://jmason.org/howto/subpixel.html it may help you. my fonts look better but remember always backup any file you modify just in case you want to go back

Linux doesn't make fonts. X provides some fonts. I can show you how to make your KDE desktop kick butt, but I'm afraid you won't like *cough* Windows *cough* anymore. :D
The only times I run Windows is when I work & play games.
