gnome won't use icons and doesn't have desktop shorcuts

Hi,
I am running gnome w/ enlightenment for a window manager. But gnome won't use icons in the menu. For example, where most gnome users will have a foot for the menu icon, mine just says menu. I also right clicked on the menu, and set it to have the foot icon, and it still doesn't use it!

Also, gnome doesn't have a desktop! I just see enlightenment's desktop, not the gnome one that i can create shortcuts on. Help!
