In the Linux community, this is like asking if ther is only one God. Don't do it unless you mind losing a little blood.
I think the best answer is another question:
What do you need Linux for?
The reason for the question is simple. If you need Linux as a desktop workstation with server capabilities, most commercial distros will do: Mandrake, Red Hat, SuSE are all fine choices. If you want to try a Debian based distro, Progeny is a good choice.
If you're looking for a server that's easy to admin, Debian stable is great.
If you're looking for more of a one job Linux distro, it depends on the task.
Do your research, it pays.
