Hey all - what a tired subject line. A new project my company is taking on involves lots of perl coding, with a XHTML / PHP / MySQL face. That's all fine and good, but for the life of me I can't find a single web page editor that I like! I've tried about 12 of them now over the last 4 months, and I ALWAYS end up needing to grab a company laptop with Frontpage 2003 on it, and then edit the .htm with the PHP logic in gedit.

My needs aren't even that hard - the thing I miss the most is being able to insert a button! I know, it's a silly thing, but gosh! The closest I can get is adding clipart and making a href link for it. Then putting text over the button.

In FrontPage, I can go to Insert->Button and it asks me what syle. The end.

Since my needs are so small, I'm sure theres a way to do it with any of the HTML creators I have installed- And I know people have a good use for buttons other than 'submit' or 'reset'.

Sorry - after 4 years of not needing M$, it doesn't make me all warm and tingly inside to have to fire up XP and a M$ editing application. Shudders.

Bluefish, Nvue (changed name again, forget what to), Quanta are all supposed to be good. Dreamweaver runs well in wine.

The best solution I'm afraid is a windows one , but some user have reported getting it to run in Wine. I've been using it for several years and would be lost without it. One of the best, if not the best...hands down. They have a free one but its limited in some features....enough to do most things.
