Back and in need of a start

OK i was learning linux and python few months back...then good old highschool stopped me in my tracks with project after project. so i am wondering where i can begin?? what is good to try...kinda interested to see if i can set up a website with apache and my own email server...gonna need some pointers of where to begin.
