I want to build a load-balancing cluster and I the multiprocess support then I read:

'Any single program that can run as multiple processes can benefit from OpenMosix: "The GIMP" photo editor and the "kandel" fractal generator are known to do this. (http://www.simplemachines.it/cluster-report.html)

Unless I can find a load-balancing cluster that does this and I'm going with OpenMosix

I looked at OpenMosix a while back for something similar. Did loads of research but just as I was about to start they stopped working on it.

There was a post on one of the websites that went along the lines of, "Since multicore processors are getting really cheap there's no point in carrying on with this project."

And that was that...

There was also a problem with things that used shared memory (like Oracle for instances) in that they couldn't get them to run across the cluster).

And they didn't have a version for a recent version of Linix (think they were at 2.4 or something.)

There are alternatives; something about beowulf clusters seems to be rattling about in the ole grey matter. But to be honest I stopped looking after I bought a multi CPU machine (found one dirt cheap).

Happy processing!
